The Melbourne Stars continue the Renegades' winnerless BBL season, with a brilliant half-century by Glenn Maxwell crushing the ladder leaders to a seven-wicket victory over the reigning champions.
In their first meeting at Marvel Stadium since last season's final, 7–168 after being sent to the Renegades, Shaun Marsh scored 63.
The Stars struggled 3-54 in reply to 83, including seven sixes, before Masterful Maxwell scored 83 off 45 balls to save the Renegades with a disappointing 0-8 record.
Maxwell on Fire
Needing six runs to win with nine balls to spare, Maxwell completed the contest in fine style with Dan Christian on the stand for his seventh sixth over.
Stars, along with Ben Dunk (14), lost for one run in the very first over to Marcus Stoinis, who was also running cheaply, but Maxwell made a 115-run partnership with Nick Larkin (33) Won the match together.
The win kept the Stars at the top of the table, leading to seven wins and one loss in their record.
Earlier, Marsh set the home team's innings.
Marsh topped this season for the first time with the Australian ODI team along with captain and regular opener Aaron Finch.
He scored 63 runs in 43 balls, including two sixes and seven fours and a 86-run partnership with Marcus Harris (42).
Marsh's superb innings, his BBL campaign's highest score, ended when he scored the easiest of the catch on a comeback catch from Sandeep Lamichhane (2–39 from four overs).
The Renegades saw their season total target of 185 crosses, but they lost 5–22 in the final four overs.
Man-of-the-moment Haris Rauf (1-25) took his total wicket for 14 runs, Pakistan were dismissed for just two runs in the last over of the fast innings. For More Information Visit bbl Official Website.
